my new friend

You might remember my ultimate goal is to run a marathon, and so far I have only managed to run 2 half marathons. Though this does add up to a full, it doesn't really count. I've been such a slacker lately in running, and it is starting to show. I know most of you wouldn't think so, but when your pants no longer fit, that's when you know there definitely has been some change. Christian's Mom sold us her old treadmill that she wasn't using. I ran on it tonight for the first time. It feels so good to be active again. Yay, for Treadmills - they enable those of us that are too busy working during daylight hours able to still run. I know this doesn't make up for road running and I will still have a lot of training to do in the spring when I can get back out on the road in the warm air, before I will be ready for that Marathon next year. At least I have a head start, unlike the winters of past where I tried to run in the cold, or around the indoor track at the U. I think this will be much easier to actually do. I don't have to pull myself out into the bitter cold, or fight to find a parking space just to run around a small circle a bazillion times.

our own place

After a ridiculous process we are now officially home owners, that is a story all of its own.

We have been working hard to get everything moved in and settled. We already have repainted our bedroom but have a lot of other projects to do/going on to make this home sweet home.

The biggest thing is we got a refrigerator yesterday! wow, try living with out a refrigerator. Impossible! Yet another story for another day. YAY for a new fridge!

This is out little piece of heaven right now

Its nice to have a place to retreat at the end of the day, and wake up to in the morning. Christian is still refinishing the dressers and night stands but this room is the only one free from the craziness of the rest of the house.

One room at a time...

Oh My

I have to say that I am absolutely in Love with these flowers.

I Love.. Love... Love... them.

In fact, I am so in love with them... I had to make some! I'll post some pictures of my own once I am finished. If you are like me, you don't have much time for such projects. In the few stolen moments I have... I have started.

learn how to make your own here.

Enjoy!

Don't Be Average!

I'm afraid I've been on a small little kick the past week because of some news I got about someone I love getting scammed and having their ID stolen.

I was recently shown the Utah Attorney Generals web site that enables you to report and learn how to prevent ID theft. One of the Pages is for educating yourself on prevention. A few of the Gems I liked on this page are

- Call 1-888-5OPTOUT or visit OptoutPrescreen and ask to stop credit card companies from sending pre-approved credit card applications to your house. They are ticking identity theft time bombs. (I didn't have any Idea that you could OPT OUT of having those pesky pre-approval Credit Card offers. I totally did this.)

- You're entitled to one free credit report from each credit reporting company each year. Get it as soon as possible and review it carefully. Order your free credit reports online at http://www.annualcreditreport.com/ (Every year around my Birthday I get my Free credit report, so every year I can see how things are going)

- Hassle companies that ask for personal information, such as your phone number at a checkout line. The harder we make it on companies, the less they will be inclined to continue the practice. (whenever stores ask me at checkout for my phone number I always ask them if its mandatory - most of the time its not.)

- Just hang up on telemarketers, particularly ones who seem to be fishing for personal information, like your birthday. Also, visit The National Do not Call Registry to keep Telemarketers from calling. (I put my cell phone on this and I will never give my information to any one who calls ME. If I want to talk to a company I will call them)

- One more from me. Make a copy of all of your Credit Cards and anything you have in your wallet and keep it locked in your files that why if you ever lose it you can quickly remember everything that was in your wallet or purse.

If you have time check out the rest of the site.

Always,
Robyn

Cosmetic withdrawl

Have you ever found that perfect shade? That one that makes your eyes pop, your skin flawless, your lips shine... Loving it and using it all the time because its absolutely perfect for you. Then, you run out... you go to the store and they no longer have it. You look in other brands to find something similar. You look online, EVERYWHERE... But there is no sign of your perfect cosmetic and you feel that all familiar feeling - Disapointment. Why can't cosmetic companies continue making shades that sell? Seems like every time I go to the store to find my perfect shade, it is also everyone elses perfect shade too... but then they have to discontinue it.

Ugh... Missing my favorite lip color...

Books

So, I'm not a big reader, but I do enjoy having a book around to read. Lately, I have really been enjoying reading at night to wind down. Cuddled up to my warm wonderful husband with a good book is about the best place I can think of to be.

I think those that are avid readers always have their eyes out for good reads. I just started enjoying this again. I usually enjoy Murder Mystery, Fantasy, Romance, pretty much anything fiction that gets my attention in Chapter 1. As a Child I enjoyed Enders Game, Island of the Blue Dolphins, Witch on Blackbird pond, the boxcar children books, some nancy drew, and of course every single Lois Duncan book known to man. Then there were the years of relationship books- He's Just not that into you, it's called a breakup because it's broken, the Peacegiver, Finding peace and happiness after divorce, Love smart, why men love B*tches, the list goes on and on and on... More recent years Harry Potter, Twilight series, and even lemony snickets series of unfortunate events captured my attention. Then... that's where we started to fall off the wagon. I started reading Intensity by Dean Koontz - OH JEEZE! let me just tell you that my worst nigh mare came to life in the pages of that book. I couldn't read more than half of it in the weeks I read it before I had to put it away permanently because how disturbing it is. I can't explain it, but it gave me panic attacks and nightmares. I was recommended Lee Child by a friend, I read Killing Floor, but it honestly is so much in the view of a Man that I just couldn't really get into it.

In an attempt to fill my void for something to read I started reading The House of Night Series - Marked, Betrayed... etc. Interesting point of view on vampires but... juvenile in how it reads but full of sex and vulgar words. Such a weird combination.

So I am on the search again... and I find this book called The Time Traveller's Wife. I started reading it on the Border's webpage. within 7 pages I am already completely interested in this story. I ordered in on HALF.com last week and still no book. I emailed the seller to get a confirmation on shipping... Still no word... so now I am waiting impatiently for my book.

Do any of you have books that you love because I know I'll be looking for another book soon.
